Landscape Paintings"I began painting in oils in 1940 - mainly surrealism, which seemed mysterious and provocative at the time. Studying in New Mexico in the later 40's provided me with wonderful landscape possibilities, working mostly in casein. Moving to the Bay Area in the 50's meant a whole new environment. The landscapes morphed into colorfield painting in the late 50's, for about five years, but I returned to landscape as I moved to the San Geronimo Valley in the middle 60's. These landscapes have been in oil, in various aspects of abstraction." Art Holman |
